| Devlog 19.2: New World | 2022-11-13 | Hello Everyone 😊, This build focuses on making the game more fun, more interactive, and more immersive. Players who have followed the development of Era will be able to notice differences in almost all facets of the game. From small subtle changes like how the clouds blend in with the sky, to bigger changes like the new trees and new main menu, this build aims to show Era of Survival at its very best. I will be close by whilst I immediately start on the new build, to spot any problems (if any arises) from this build and will even post another small update with fixes before the next release. I have tested this build myself and involved others |

| Devlog 19.1: Misty-Blue Afternoons | 2021-12-05 | Hello Everyone, I am happy to bring you Devlog 19.1, a very special build for me. This is a build that I have carefully combed through piece by piece over the last few months. My goal was to rewrite code to make things simpler and faster. I will admit that my strong points aren't exactly 3D modeling and animation, so don't expect too many changes in those departments here. Instead, I focused on bug fixes and improving what would make the experience more chilling and fun immediately. I am happy to say that most of these fixed bugs are game breakers - so let's dig into a world where we never have to deal with all these problems again :) Loading |
| Devlog 19: The Craftsman | 2021-05-23 | Hello Everyone, This build focuses on improving the player's ability to craft things in the game. Using new placeable items like the Crafting Station and Multi-Tasking Station, players can now craft much faster and even two things at once! I also spent a considerable amount of time debugging various systems in the game, just to make things smoother. If you haven't yet, pick up your copy of Era of Survival and see what it's all about, or add Era of Survival to your wishlist and stay in the loop! And now.. | Devlog 18: Kill or be killed | 2021-03-12 | Hello Everyone, Today I bring you a new threat, new sounds, new foods, and some new UI touches. This build aims to make the grasslands a harsher place to live in. Here's what's new: Improvements to In-Game Chat I changed how chats are seen in-game but most of the work was in the background. Players benefit from having the chats take up less space and are easier to read than in previous builds. Load from last checkpoint When you die, you will now see a new button called 'Load from last Checkpoint' which you can use to reload your game from the last save, be it via autosave or manual. No running whilst aiming When you pull your wooden bow, as s |
| Devlog 17.3 Minor fixes | 2021-02-18 | Hello Everyone, This is a small build that fixes minor UI, sound, and gameplay bugs. They are mainly to improve gameplay. Fixed an issue where fire would start on spawn Some players reported that when placing a fire, the flames would turn on when placed, even if there's no wood in it. Extinguishing the fire, then turning it on again solved it. This has been fixed and behaves as expected. Fixed an issue with draggy sound, caused by aSync To bring down RAM requirements for the game, music playing in-game streamed from the hard drive when needed, and no longer via RAM. This is okay when you have an SSD or a not-so-busy traditional hard drive, bu |
| Devlog 17.2: Key Mapping | 2020-12-13 | Hello Everyone, This build brings new key mapping functionality to Era. With this, you can set any key on your keyboard for any action in-game. You can access the Input page via the Settings menu when in-game. Also included is a rotation indicator. When placing objects, this indicator will pop up in the top-left corner of the screen. You will still be able to access your saved worlds after updating. If you haven't yet, please consider showing your support and pick up your own copy of Era of Survival or wishlist Era of Survival :) Cheers for now, Jean |
| Devlog 17.1: Bug fixes | 2020-12-11 | Hello Everyone, This build mainly focuses on fixing bugs found across various gameplay elements (Construction, placement, game -> server optimizations to name a few). This build doesn't bring new big features, instead it's all about smoothing gameplay. Have a look at everything that's changed: I decided to retire the Decorative logs and Turnips, the logs contribute to fluctuating frame rates and the turnips are losing their place in the game's natural ecosystem with every new build we publish. Unfortunately, the turnips have become too foreign to the rest of the game objects. Resized in-game chat section on the server settings page Saving inv |
| Devlog 17: Bigger fish to fry! | 2020-11-28 | Hello Everyone, This build brings new features, new craftable items, new animals, new tools, new sounds, new animations, and a wide range of big and small bug fixes. This build introduces a new triangular wooden foundation, dams filled with fish, and a fishing rod to fight them out of the water. These changes bring new ways you can play and explore Era. Updated Start Menu To show what's possible with Era of Survival's build system, we decided to change the start menu screen. This structure took about 20 minutes to put together with InstaCraft and Creative mode enabled. New Animals We introduce 3 new fish, the Perch, the Pike, and the Trout. T |
| Devlog 17 is coming! | 2020-11-13 | Hello Everyone, I am currently knee-deep in works to complete Devlog 17. I'm bringing new features, resources, new equippable tools as well as new construction parts in this build, so there is quite a lot to do (and then test, test and test!). Without spoiling too much, here's a few new items that I have already incorporated and are ready for deployment through Devlog 17. New Fish Pike Perch Trout New String This build will also introduce a fishing pole and a fight to catch fish. I'm also making changes to the build system to allow a new type of foundation, which will give players more creative freedom when building houses. Thank you for bein |
| Devlog 16: Hunters arise! | 2020-10-31 | Hello Everyone, In this build, we wanted to expand construction, hunting, and self-defense. We also introduce bigger stones to mine from, the rest of your armor suit, and a hammer! There's also some adjustments we've made, and as our main priority - bash bugs. Unfortunately, custom key mapping could not make it into the final build and will have to roll over to our next build. This feature needs extensive testing to make sure it doesn't end up breaking game flow completely because of small errors. There's a few topics to cover here, so pull up a chair and your cup of coffee! I certainly did. The homemade Bow We're excited to finally get our p |
| Devlog 15: New Armor, new SFX, new features and more | 2020-10-15 | Hello Everyone, In Devlog 15 we wanted to strengthen the player's ability to fight better and manage his stuff better whilst busy trying to survive. At the same time, we wanted to get the foundation ready for avatar clothing, and while we are at it, add a few new effects while we remove stuff that wasn't working out for our players. This build also comes with minor bug fixes and performance improvements. Ability to make and wear clothes So far we have built the entire back-end foundation so your avatar can have head, torso, legs and foot protection, across the multiplayer environment. In this build we have included two new armor items, the Le |

| Small Update: Save your World | 2020-09-02 | Hello Everyone, Just a small update to bring about some big change in gameplay. This build enables a move away from "playing offline" to "Single Player", we also fixed an issue with the player's belt and fixed a placement bug. Load and save Players can now create a new world through the Single Player option in the main menu. You name your world. Your world will autosave every 10 minutes, or you can save in the in-game settings menu or when going to the main menu. Players can create as many worlds as they like. Issue with belt There was an issue where the tools and weapons you have in your belt (the 5 slot strip at the bottom of the screen) wo |
| Devlog 14: The new Dawn | 2020-08-23 | Hello Everyone, In this build we focused on bringing new features and enhancements to Era, we also addressed a few bugs and made changes which will dramatically improve the pace during gameplay. Tools and weapons have been strengthened and are more durable. We also changed the wolf and worked on his AI to make him a better enemy. Further we made effort to make this build our most stable yet. Admittedly, since Devlog 13, we have been through a rollercoaster in South Africa trying to dodge a humanitarian disaster due to covid, whilst same time trying to keep people from losing their jobs, houses and livelihoods. This balancing act by our govern |

Places of improvement: Small water bodies Tree placement Inventory Systems Death spawn screen More work is currently being done to reorganize code to remove any unwanted bugs. This in general provides better game play. Cheers, Jean |
| Devlog 13: Bug bashing | 2020-06-25 | Hi Everyone, For this build we decided to take a moment and start cleaning up bugs. Whilst this build mainly focuses on bugs, we also replaced the water well with something new, fixed character animations, polished the wolf some more and made a few convenience changes here and there. We also turned down the severity of heavy rains. We spent additional time testing on this build and would like to hear our players opinion on this build :) Without further delay, here we go! Bug Fixes Player dies over and over on the respawn screen This bug was due to the new Auto Heal feature that was introduced in Devlog 12. What happened was the server would A |
| Online Server temporarily down | 2020-06-24 | Hello Everyone, We have noticed a few hiccups with our online hosting partner (which is currently hosting our Online Server) over the past few weeks. As of now the server is offline yet again. We have decided to use this opportunity to migrate to a new, more stable service provider in due course. Please be patient while we complete this process. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused, we will communicate the outcome as soon as possible. Cheers, Jean |
| Devlog 12: A cold, wet and lonely day | 2020-06-09 | Hello Everyone, For Devlog 12 we focused on making the wolf more efficient and worked on his placement to give him a better chance against the player. We also completed work on the first part of bringing temperature to Era of Survival. We also fixed a few other bugs as well. Let's dive in: Temperature As of this build, players will now notice a new popup on the right side, above the belt, indicating your body temperature. There are many ways to influence this. When it rains and you're caught outside in the open, your player will get visibly wet. If you are wet, you will get much colder, especially if you stay outside in the rain. The raining |
| Devlog 11: New sounds, server enhancements, bug fixes and rain | 2020-05-29 | Hello Everyone, With this update we bring you the first element of our plan to incorporate weather and temperature into Era of Survival. We also added new sounds that makes gameplay more fun, we made adjustments to our server to speed things up and we got a few reported bugs out as well. Sadly we are not ready yet with body armor. Let's have a look: Notable changes New In-Game Settings menu We cleaned up the settings menu a little. From here it's much easier to add more settings for players to change. We also fixed a bug where if you had the backpack and camp fire open, then the settings page would show and the camp fire dialog will be over i |
| Devlog 10: New sounds, expanded drag and drop and new main menu | 2020-05-03 | Hello Everyone, This week we prioritized improving the gameplay experience with new sounds, bug fixes and a couple more changes to bring the package together. Notable changes: New main menu We have changed our main menu, doing away with the still image and burning camp fire. Now you can get a good idea from what the game entails just by looking at the background on the main menu. We used the opportunity to demonstrate the build system and put a few animals on display. Door Frame to the wooden doorway. To complete the look of our doorways, we gave the doorway a border. GUI Drag and Drop support We introduced limited drag and drop in the previo |
| Devlog 09: Enhancements and bug fixes | 2020-04-26 | Hello Everyone, For this week we worked to improve current systems all over the game as well as fix a few bugs along the way. We also looked at making some tasks in the game a little simpler, like drag and drop in the inventory, easier object placement and tweaks to tool durability and tool efficiencies. Notables: New features for your backpack You can now drag and drop your supplies around to any slot you want. You can also drop similar supplies together to combine them together. Remember that your backpack has only 15 slots available. A small storage box has 10, and a large storage box has 20. Bug: Spinach not growing at the farm When you p |
| Devlog 08: It used to be so dark | 2020-04-19 | Hello Everyone, This week we bring you a few convenience items. We also updated on Friday (See Devlog 07.5) with a few bug fixes. We looked at bringing new lights into the game that players can now put up against the wall, we made it so that you can get crafting quicker, we added a little dust to the construction process and we even added proper category names in the crafting menu. We'd really like to see your screenshots too :) Notable changes Wall lights Players will now see a new item available to craft. These wall lights can be put on the inside of your home, on your window frame, door frame, wall or even fence. Use them with caution thou |
| Devlog 7.5: Small update | 2020-04-17 | Hello Everyone, We have a few fixes ready but we really wanted players to have them available for the weekend. We will however still post a normal update on Sunday. Notables: Fixed lock mouse to screen For players with dual monitor setups, when playing, your mouse cursor will not leave the game unless you open your inventory or open settings. Improved character movement on server A slight improvement on players syncing to the server that mainly involves rotation. Improves movement of other players on the online server. Issues with In-Game Chat For some players in game chat was completely disabled. This should rectify the issue Corn stalk scal |
| Devlog 07: Bug Fixes | 2020-04-13 | Hello Everyone, For this week we looked at fixing a few common bugs and made improvements as well, but we mainly focused to complete upgrading Era's files to Unity 2019. This will be a less noticeable update, but rest assured that foundations were laid in the process of upgrading. Without further ado: Gap exploits around houses To the dismay of some player on the online server, others have figured out that (with great precision) you can actually reach a fireplace inside the house if it was placed very close to the wall on the inside, even though you are on the outside. This has been fixed Harvesting from a dead body Similarly to above, when y |
| Devlog 06: Official Online Server | 2020-03-29 | Hello Everyone, This week we looked at getting an official server online, we worked on some damage indicators, we fixed a couple of bugs, we made trees fall over - but equally as important, we brainstormed on what comes after. Players will notice that this build is running quite smoother. We've started a process of upgrading our project with the aim of upgrading to the latest version of Unity. Because we started development back in 2017, Era was being developed with Unity version 2017. To get some specific bugs fixed, we need to migrate our scripts to a new language and then upgrade to Unity 2019, allowing us to finally get rid of some bugs t |
| Devlog 05: New items, cosmetics and playability | 2020-03-22 | Hello everyone, This week we looked at icons and models, as well as the flow of game play. We also got some more stubborn bugs out as detailed below. Have a look at the first few minutes of game play . We are a small team of 1 programmer and 1 artist, but despite this we are making good progress to complete this phase of development. Whilst our list of fixes might still be long, we remain dedicated to our community and our customers to keep improving our product. Luckily we have a good system in place to guide us by effectively managing tasks across various game development departments. Notable Bug fixes: Storage box does not sync last slot i |
| Devlog 04: Bugs, sounds and graphics | 2020-03-15 | Hello everyone, For this week we wanted to focus on the look, feel and sound of the game. This we got to after taking a sweep through and fixed bugs that got reported recently. Notables: We finished programming and animating the chicken. You can now hunt them, kill them, clean them, cook them and eat them. We worked on the wolfs too. There were reports that wolves could stand stuck on a hill and couldn't come down or even chase the player, but would bite when the player got close. This has been fixed. We polished up our rocks and worked on lighting. Shadows and lighting now better represent time of day. The color of water also now blends in b |
| Devlog 03: New trees and foliage | 2020-03-08 | Hello everyone, For this week, we worked on new trees, we added new bushes, different stones, different decor for the map as well as optimized the farming system and models some more. We also addressed reported bugs and want to thank everyone for their input. We're still short of a chicken and hit marks, but they will come too :) Fixes and improvements Tree and terrain decor LOD This is for performance. Objects that are further away will now render in a lower quality to enhance performance, however this technique makes it difficult for the player to even notice the change in quality as further away objects would normally be too small to see t |
