The Final Major Patch Before Full Release: my thoughts, server reset2026-08-24Dear Seekers,We are now about to wrap up preparations for the upcoming Large Patch. It will bring a lot of changes, mostly related to how metrics are calculated and displayed. The game will finally make it obvious that all that matters is the quality of your submitted solution and not the time spent or mistakes made (in the current build, mistakes matter; time does not). The new scoring system is geared towards motivating players to discover new quantum algorithms for the given problems. Those who discover the best algorithms will forever remain in the history of the given puzzle (unless somebody else moves the bar forward). What to expect in
Time for a Tournament! We passed 10k players2026-06-29Dear Seekers,I want this to be much more than an educational game... a platform to start what I like to call "quantum eSports": weekly tournaments, big competitions, events with sponsors and prizes.I think this is the best way to get people excited about coming up with cool quantum algorithms. QHW is here, yes it's not as good as it will be in the future, but what we are really slacking on is quantum algorithms. I believe such algorithms can only be invented from people with different backgrounds (than Quantum Computing) who are expert is a particular problem and are willing to put in the effort to find a quantum algo for it.Hence, I want to
EA1.2.57 New text lines were created for every | symbol fix2026-05-14We had a terrible bug in which all texts were spilling out thanks to a new steamdeck regex we introduced in the large patch to autodetect and change certain texts depending on if the player is using a deck or not-now fixed. Sorry for having to see so many badly formatted texts! You can reset your progress using the X button in the profile section if you feel this bug gave you any trouble.-QI teamPS. Linux native build coming tomorrow!
macOS + Offline Are Here The Update You’ve Been Waiting For2026-05-06Dear Seekers,The game is ready to teach anyone quantum with 0 background in algebra or anything. Game is almost done and we are preparing for Full Launch.🚀 Full Release StatusNo longer feels like an Early Access titleContent ~99% completeOver 56 patches so far, it became super hard to find something new I'd like to patch nowImproved learning curve based on a year of analytics!! Major refinements to reduce cognitive overloadIf you tried it early, now is the perfect time to return. You can reset your account!Stable & polishedNo known bugs (but feel free to go on a bug hunt)We've been working on this patch for over a year now. This ties up cont
EA1.2.55 Game now finally has cats2026-04-23Small fixes and changes to narration, puzzles and story. On the 4th (if things go well!) we go live with a Large patch -> this will make game fully playable offline, accounts can be reset, and entire game will have tailored UI and setup for Steamdecks. We need to plan a server reset soon. Game is now in top notch condition to learn quantum without any background in anything (esp now that it has cats too). -QI team
EA1.2.53. OFFLINE mode in testing, improved tutorials2026-04-17Dear Seekers,We’ve finally added an offline mode to Quantum Odyssey (FOR NOW only on Development branch, as there could still be untested bugs!)The game was always built around interaction... comparing solutions, hacking vaults, sharing creations and stuff like so basically a full zachlike experience. But not everyone has a stable connection, and that was a real limitation. Now the game can switch automatically between offline and online. You don’t need to do anything. Work done offline will sync once you’re back online, so nothing gets lost.Offline mode is currently available ONLY on the Development branch. If you want to try it:Right-click Q
EA1.2.51 fixed memory leaks, improved intros2026-03-25this patch should forever address the laptop overheating problem some users were reporting after long play sessions
EA1.2.50 UI scaling, font size, new content2026-03-11Greetings, Seekers. This update focuses on making your journey through the world of QO more accessible and intuitive. We’ve heard your feedback regarding readability, carefully watched your progression with the content to adjust the learning curve, and we’re excited to bring these quality-of-life improvements to the game.Accessibility & UIUI Scaling: Added a new "UI Scaling" toggle in the Settings menu. You can now choose between 4 different scaling options to ensure text and interface elements fit your preference. This update drastically improves the experience for Steam Deck users and those playing on smaller displays. The game now fully suppo
EA1.2.49 New letter, improved content, offline work and translations2026-02-09New in .49: -letter from Sage of Reasons -a few changes to puzzles that were too hard too soon -difficulty curve adjustments We are now preparing the offline mode for deployment (maybe another month of work?) and figuring out if the 400p+ written content within QO can actually be translated to languages beyond English. This will be quite a heavy project to undertake and I hope we won't let you down with the translations but I think it's worth to begin work on it. Quantum computing shouldn't be a thing just for English natives. Are you a French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, or Korean speaker and a fan of the game? We’d love to hear f
EA1.2.48 New animations, better sage letters, improved content2026-01-24Dear Seekers,-new animations for cases where complex numbers are uneven-revamped the letter system: new content, new letters, can now be scrolled while written-improved the learning curve for the first 20 modules by analyzing where people get stuck-the puzzles where people were once getting stuck are now a bit more intuitiveMany people without any background in mathematics who finished the game! This is really cool - the game does it's job. Content is almost ready for V1.0 release. Please support this project by leaving a steam review!I'd like also to bring people's attention to two awesome streams of the game: (stream of the game of a physics
Beardhero Livestream 02026-01-18We play through the Quantum Odyssey campaign and continue the quest to uncover all the secrets of the universe.
EA1.2.46 many QoL improvs most won't notice2026-01-05Focused on the first 5 modules and a few other small insignificant tweaks. Offline mode soon ready for deployment
EA.1.2.45 Improved SWAP challenge, wording changes, sage letter impros2026-01-02HNY! SWAP challenge has been remade, you can no longer cheat (everything needs entanglement now) Fixed some issues with the letters and overall wording
EA1.2.44 Reworked Sage Letters to now express qm foundational ideas2025-12-30Many found the sage letters to be too hermit-y and their language esoteric. This is no longer the case. I think this new rework combines really well with the new quote system the game is using to make for a complete immersion into this playground of quantum logic. Happy New Year everyone! The game is in an amazing state rn. Offline mode, metrics system overhaul and our first esports like competitions could begin Q1. It's now the perfect time to start learning real quantum.
EA1.2.41 Oracle, Erases the data entries final, offline mode 90% ready!2025-12-26This holiday season I'm enjoying working at this game more than anything for some reason. Hence you'll find in this patch further improvements to the learning curve, and a really verbose way to explain one of the hardest concepts in quantum algorithms development: What REALLY is an ORACLE? Check the Encyclopedia of the game (now sitting well at above 300pages) for the full description and if there are some things I left out shoot. I tried to explain everything without the math, since the visuals themselves are the math. Happy Holidays everyone! Offline mode is almost complete as well, soon you won't need internet to play the game (tb released
EA1.2.41 Colorblind mode: Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia2025-12-23Patch Notes – Color Blind Accessibility Update (Beta)This update introduces color blind accessibility options aimed at improving clarity, contrast, and visual consistency across the entire game. Even without enabling a color blind filter, many players should notice general visibility improvements. What’s newColor Blind Modes added to SettingsTested against the three main types of color blindness:ProtanopiaDeuteranopiaTritanopiaVisual improvementsClearer distinction between the four core quantum colorsConsistent color logic in simulationsReal components use blue tonesImaginary components use yellow tonesPreviously, negative real values could vi
EA1.2.40 The wordless tutorials now explain game mechanics2025-12-07Realizing from several reviews that players get frustrated if they don't get explanations right from the start, I added deeper, beginner-friendly tutorials around the first node. Mechanics of the Fracture I & II now explain the game mechanics without using any quantum theory. Designing a good learning curve is extremely hard, especially when players come in with wildly different backgrounds. Some arrive with no math skills at all but hope to learn quantum computing -> these new tutorials are meant to help them progress much faster. Others complain that the early puzzles don’t teach quantum theory and assume the whole game will stay as easy as
EA1.2.39 Press R to advance texts, don't click symbols anymore!2025-11-23You no longer need to click buttons to advance texts, simply press the R key! Improved the narrated module, eliminated typos Every time you entered a new module it used to say "Learn to Fly", now the name of the puzzle is displayed instead. In the map the new hold right click to pan option is shown Panning over UI is no longer possible holding right click
EA1.2.38 Narrated Module on History of Computation, righclick pan camera2025-11-14Dear Seekers,Paula Marie has returned through a time capsule to be opened for those seeking a casual, relaxed and narrated history lesson into how humanity started with processing information. You'll learn about bits, bitstrings and how to build simple circuits, simply sit back and relax and let Paula cover everything for you. This should really open the game up for those absolute beginners (who haven't seen a 01 before). We also introduced holding right click to pan camera around, it should feel similar to any editing software you might use in the past. WASD is still there, but given some people are left handed this should really improve on t
EA.1.2.35 Content update - new challenges2025-10-28I’ve seen far too many Seekers get stuck at the tutorial. I believe it's my fault and I am finding ways to improve on this. It's fascinating to see that most people who put over two hours in, end up going 20h+, hence my goal is simple: to make the first 30 minutes feel like a casual, approachable experience, definitely not the "hardest puzzle game ever made", as some may have pointed out many patches ago.Two new wordless challenges have been added to create a more fluid on-boarding experience. These focus purely on what the gates do. Only in part three of the series will you explore why they do what they do.Beyond that, you’ll also find impro
EA.1.2.34 New Content!2025-10-24Seeker, it is time to test your command over invisible threads of logic.Have you ever longed to whisper a possibility into one qubit… only to watch it collapse into certainty on another? Now you will practice the true art of teleporting information, where superposition becomes a message, and entanglement becomes your path.Added a new challenge path for SWAP. Let's see Prove you can master swapping quantum information!Small changes to dialogues and encyclopedia as usual.Offline mode wip.Next week we'll improve input controls which hopefully will solve the NE panning problem some experience using controllers.Custom gate behavior improvements, n
EA1.2.33. Clifford, Hilbert, offline wip2025-10-22Better explained what Clifford and Hilbert are all about Added new encyclopedia entries
EA1.2.32 small tweaks, offline mode still our priority2025-10-18Module on phase (S gate) rework Found out Einstein didn't say "get gut", Feinstein did instead but somehow everyone attributes the quote to Einstein Added new quotes and solved consistency problem in Clifford group Fixed a couple of encyclopedia entry problems reported by the community
Custom gates now have full description, offline wip2025-10-05A nice long awaited change to how Custom Gates behave. Now when placed, they carry over their naming in the circuit tool. This should make playing the classical logic modules WAY more enjoyable and less frustrating. No need to make any mistake placing CG's now! Now would be the best time to learn classical logic on a quantum simulator - pls replay the Sage of Purposes modules once more, you'll see what I mean. We rushed this patch to address a vulnerability to the engine that got reported this Friday. Offline still remains our top prio and hopefully this month will be deployed on the public branch. Stay quantum, QI team
EA 1.2.30 - better intro, improved learning curve, offline wip2025-09-27Lots of tweaks to wording and definitions to keep language consistent cross tutorials Improvements to the quote system Fixed small bugs QO should be playable completely offline next month without community metrics
EA 1.2.29: small tweaks, offline mode wip2025-09-13Learning curve now seems as smooth as it will ever get. Any ideas to make things easier to understand please don't hesitate to bring forward. Missing sage content tweaks (+new puzzles on MS1) Mechanics of the Fracture now explains Quantum Atlas Learning curve tweaks, offline mode wip - should be up for testing on beta server soon Game client now holds user progression, server sync still wip
minor changes, EA1.2.282025-08-1530+ new puzzle related quotes small tweaks to the learning curve, fixed some typos progress on the offline mode
Patch EA1.2.27: Quote system overhaul, learning curve improvements, offline WIP2025-08-08Someone said once science is built on the "shoulders of giants". I know it was intended as a pun and I'm using it out of context but I'll go with it anyway. The giants of today are our living professors, physicists, computer scientists and mathematicians that actively keep the fields growing and distillate knowledge in ways (incomprehensible science papers, or succinct, using metaphors, whatever it takes) that we can understand it in our modern era. I never thought it would be so hard to find actual quotes from contemporary scientists, I always thought that opinions are like nipples, everyone has one. Turns out, the people closest to the work
Control module better explained2025-07-22Small improvements this time, mostly an overhaul over the explanations behind Control module (the node after Z gate). Would advice everyone to redo it and would be great to get some feedback. We managed to separate Control operator from all CX, CCX Toffoli etc so this might require a few more iterations until we nail it straight since you won't see this operator standalone in any quantum sim out there.
