End of development2026-10-18With next fest kicking off tomorrow I went ahead an update the demo one last time. Since my last post here earlier in the summer plenty of work has gone into fixing minor bugs, finalizing systems, and getting the last of the content added into the game. The final release will be sometime in December or January, but I have yet to select a final release date.Below are just two of the updates from the past few months your can see in the update demo.IN BATTLE AUG ICONSLets you quickly see which agents have what augments and is also used to turn on and off augment that require power.DOGSDogs have now been added, they will probably receive some add
Demo updates2026-06-23Received some great feedback from everyone following the demo upload. Some of you seem to have really enjoyed it 11% of players have more than 10 hours in the demo! In light of the feedback I've spent some time fixing bugs in addition to making updates and improvements to some of the existing systems. View LockingYou can now lock an agents view in the direction they are currently looking. If they are shot or see any enemy outside they locked view direction they will turn to engage the target before returning to their assigned lock view direction. Demo update2026-06-06If you have not notice the demo went live at the end of last month. Since then I've pushed a some small updates to improve some performance issues some players were having in addition to some bugs. Today's update improves an issue where dragging a look arrow could cause menus to pop up when not desired in addition to more minor bugs.Don't have an exact date but the full release is planned for the last quarter of the year.A quick shout out to Sir Jelly Bean who did a video covering Brain Hack Squad.
Development update and flamethrowers2026-02-13Hi,It has been too long since the last update. The good news is that we are working on the final bit before launch and if your taking part in the play test a new version has been uploaded with plenty of new stuff and enhancements. This includes changes made based on the continued feedback. In the next few months expect to see more updates and the launch of the public demo here on steam.I'll leave everyone with a quick gif of the flamethrower. Its fun but a chaotic, the fire can easily spread across the level cutting off hall ways and rooms killing both friend and foe alike.Till next time.
Development continues2025-07-27Well so much for having more consistent updates and news. Again, want to thank everyone who has reported bugs or given feedback. Many of the updates and development since the last post have been focused on less exciting and mundane systems and bug fixes that don't make for cool images. Having said that on the graphical side, the Schenk Frame and TV Head augments are graphically implemented along with weapon sprites in mission that match up with their corresponding inventory icons. If your taking part in the play test, be aware that the new version will delete any old saves to ensure bugs are prevented due to saves from older versions.Till nex
Lasers and steam playtest2025-05-27First off I want to thank everyone who has provided feedback on the current playtest builds. If you haven't already, I'd love to hear from everyone who has played public playtest build here on steam or itch. Click here to go to the feedback form. Moving on, I've uploaded a new build of the playtest this weekend, besides numerous small and minor changes and bug fixes, it includes additional Augments that are now implemented, a quick action mode, and lasers. Here are two of the new augments. The first is the dead switch which lets dead agents contribute to the fight by turning them into proximity mines. If they have C4 charges in their inventor
Development update and feedback demo2025-02-25It's been a more than a few months since I've posted anywhere on the status of Brain Hack Squad and for that I am sorry. I plan to make updates are more regular occurrence in order to keep everyone up to date on the game's development. For now I have two things to share today.... First I have uploaded a short video on youtube, giving a basic rundown of the games core game play loop. Check it out. Second I have published a feedback demo on itch.io. Why do this? Why call it a feedback demo? Because I want to get some feedback from fans of the game and fans of Real Time Tactic games. It has some known issues, and the screen resolution is current
